Is a travel card
a debit card?
If you use a prepaid travel card to make purchases abroad, then no your card is not a debit card. Unlike a debit card, prepaid travel cards aren’t linked to a bank account.

Check for hidden card fees
Travel credit cards can be a good way to avoid exchange rate fees when travelling abroad, travel credit cards often have very high interest rates which means that if you don’t pay the balance off in full each month, you could end up cancelling out the exchange rate benefits.
Even though some travel credit cards allow you to withdraw cash from an ATM without charging a fee, you’ll still be charged interest on cash withdrawals even if you clear your balance each month. Not everyone is guaranteed to be accepted for a travel credit card as you might need to earn a minimum income and have a good credit score. You might also have to pay a monthly or annual fee to use the travel credit card.

Travel debit card
A better solution offered by Currensea, is a travel debit card. You simply spend abroad in any desired currency as the money will be collected from your existing bank account by direct debit. A new way to spend abroad without worrying about fees, topping-up, and managing multiple accounts.
Plus, our free travel debit card takes minutes to sign up.
